I didn’t know I’d be here writing you about walking but I will tell you that it has changed my life. I’m Ed Harris and I’d like to share a little about my amazing walking journey and how it led us to the point where we are today. When I started walking it used to be the way I’d blow off stress from my work. However, after sustaining a sports injury and going through a dark season full of depression, I realized how powerful walking really is and what a truly amazing gift it is.
Walking helped me overcome depression and anxiety and I learned that it is an amazing stress reliever. Its why we started WeWalk.Club a walking and total outdoor community in 2020 as a commitment to get the entire country moving more.
So what have I done with walking & Mental health awareness over the last few years?
-Successfully completed six 100,000 step (50 mile) walks in a 24 hour day.
-Walked 25+ miles over 125 times and counting…
-Led several global teams of walkers in endurance treks ranging from 25- 50 miles.
-Led dozens of walking and educational camps both in person and virtually before, during Covid and presently.
-Designed and implemented mental health and walking programs for companies such as Jason’s Deli, Keller Williams, Album 55+ Communities as well as the City Of Keller TX.
-Keynote speaker on mental health and meditation.
-Wrote an ebook in 2018 called Walking With Fitbit - a guide to help people be more active within their daily lives.
-Led several individuals as well as groups (both small and large) in various walking challenges. I love helping people and seeing them improve!
-Hosts of an annual Memorial Day charity walk to bring awareness to mental health and suicide prevention. In 2021 we highlighted The Wounded Warrior Project.
Q. What is the difference between Ed Harris’s speaking services and others?
A. Direct engagement and interaction with the audience or group although I gladly modify and shape our keynotes to suit the mission and needs of your group. I always incorporate a direct engagement or activity into the speech such as standing up and walking in place during the speech or having several volunteers play a team based walking challenge as a fun inspiring live case study during the speech etc.
Q. Oftentimes we are left inspired after a great keynote but eventually sometimes just slip back into our normal routines and systems. What makes your approach different?
A. We spend time prior to any speech or presentation working with leaders and key personnel to not only give a great relevant speech but to also implement a mental health walking success strategy that the team can adopt and connect to as a next step immediately. Such as healthy walking challenges, team challenges, health and education workshops, virtual and live seminars, 5k -10k walking events etc.
